Preventive Dentistry is the key to healthy smiles!

Here at Firefly, we know that preventative care is the key to a healthy mouth and a healthy life. With just two cleanings a year, we can make help your child develop the oral hygiene habits that will keep them smiling for years to come. At Firefly we welcome all children from ages birth- 18 years. Call today to book your appointment!

    Preventative Dentistry
    +Checkups and cleaning
    +Dental radiographs
    +Sportsguards
    +Fluoride treatment
    +Sealants

    Checkups and cleanings

These procedures are important to make sure your child has a healthy mouth. We recommend seeing your dentist every 6 months so that we can work together on making sure we keep your child cavity free with a healthy smile! Seeing your child every six months will ensure we catch the cavities before they get a chance to get larger. It can also help us prevent future issues! The checkup will give both you and your child a chance to have questions answered and we can help with recommending certain products based on your child’s needs.

The cleaning is done with a special “toothbrush” that will take off plaque and tartar on teeth. We have many toothpaste options that your child will be able to choose from. After the cleaning, the doctor will perform an exam and address your child’s individual needs.

    Radiographs

Radiographs or xrays are pictures we take of your child’s teeth. We follow the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommendations to determine the frequency that we take the x-rays. Many times, x-rays will help us catch those flossing cavities between the teeth! The x-rays will also help us evaluate the teeth and make sure those baby and adult teeth are looking healthy.

Our office incorporates some of the latest technologies when it comes to digital radiographs so you can rest assured that your child’s exposure to radiation is minimal.

    Fluoride

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that is sometimes added to water sources and many toothpastes. It is a vitamin that helps keep teeth strong and helps to prevent cavities from forming. It is very quick to apply and we allow your child to pick the flavor they would like. With the fluoride we use at our office, your child can still eat and drink right after!

    Sportsguard

Did you know that most sports-related injuries are related to the teeth and gums? At Firefly, we are dedicated to your child’s smile. We can help prevent this by fabricating a custom made sportsguard that is more comfortable and better fitting than what can be found in stores. The sportsguard will help protect your child’s teeth by preventing chips or knocked out teeth. Sportsguard are especially important for contact sports but are also recommended for noncontact sports.

    Sealants

Many times, our molars especially those back ones have very deep grooves where bacteria and food can get stuck and cause cavities. Sealants are applied to the chewing surface of a tooth to help prevent the bacteria and food from sticking to the grooves. They only take a couple of minutes and they really decrease the chance that decay will form on those teeth. Call our office today to schedule an appointment for your child! ”

At Firefly we offer treatment for infants, school aged children, and adolescents.

Here at Firefly Children’s Dentistry we are proud to treat children from birth to age 18. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child first see a dentist at age 6 months but no later than one year. Our team has had extensive training in behavior management and the management of children with complex medical needs. We understand that each child has unique needs- and we will take the time to listen and understand those needs. We take pride in providing care in a gentle, kind and friendly environment. To schedule an appointment, give us a call today! ”

#4 – Nitrous Oxide & Anesthesia post: Upload the following content to this post:

We offer different sedation options to help keep your child calm and relaxed

At Firefly Children’s Dentistry we understand that every child has unique needs. For that reason, we may offer treatment with different forms of sedation to make sure your child has the most comfortable experience. Call today to schedule your appointment!

    Nitrous/Laughing Gas

Nitrous/Laughing gas is a treatment adjunct that we use frequently here at Firefly. It is one of the safest sedatives with few side affects. Laughing gas will help your child relax, be calmer and overall have a more pleasant experience. Children who receive laughing gas will still be alert, awake and able to communicate with us. Laughing gas will not put your child to sleep. The effects of the gas wear off almost immediately once it is turned off. We recommend staying away from heavy foods prior to having laughing gas.

    General Anesthesia

Sometimes, for the comfort and safety of your child our doctor may recommend that dental work be completed under general anesthesia. Sedation may be a good option for children with severe anxiety, extensive treatment and/or children with complex medical needs. Whatever the reason, we got you covered. Under general anesthesia, we complete all the necessary work for your child during one visit while they are sleeping. General anesthesia is performed in hospital setting under the close supervision of anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists.

#5 – Restorative Dentistry post: Upload the following content:

    Restorative dentistry:

    +Crowns
    +Tooth colored fillings
    +Silver diamine fluoride
    +Spacers
    +Extractions

    Crowns

There are several reasons why a tooth may need a crown: extensive decay, deformities in the enamel or outer tooth layer, a traumatic injury to the tooth or after nerve/pulpal treatment. A crown can help protect and maintain the tooth until the tooth is ready to naturally come out. At Firefly Children’s Dentistry we offer a variety of options including stainless steel crowns and Zirconia tooth colored crowns. In fact, our doctor is a certified provider for Sprig zirconia crowns.

    Tooth colored fillings

If your child needs a filling, Firefly Children’s Dentistry has you covered. All the fillings that we do at our office are tooth colored and we try our best to make sure we use a shade that matches that of your child’s teeth. We use these fillings because they are most esthetic and will practically be invisible to the naked eye. Call our office today to schedule your child’s appointment!

    Silver Diamine Fluoride

Silver Diamine Fluoride, or SDF, is a way to stop a cavity from getting larger without having to use traditional methods of removing the decay and then placing a filling. We apply the SDF as a“paint” on top of the teeth. It is used as an alternative treatment to stop progression of decay until the child is better able to sit for treatment in office. It is a safe, non-invasive method and can sometimes allow us to avoid sedation or general anesthesia. Come in today to find out if this is an option for your child!

    Space Maintainers/Spacers

One of the most important functions of a baby teeth is to guide and hold space for permanent teeth until they are ready to come in. If a baby molar is lost prematurely, in order to prevent other teeth from drifting and closing the space, a spacer may be indicated. Most times, we can fabricate the spacer chairside at one appointment. At every 6 month cleaning, we will monitor the eruption of the permanent teeth and remove the spacer once we see the adult tooth coming in. Removing the spacer is a fairly simple procedure. Remember, with spacers you always want to avoid any kind of sticky or chewy candies.

    Extractions

At Firefly, we are dedicated to making sure your child has a healthy smile. Sometimes that means that an extraction may be indicated if we are faced with a problematic tooth or a tooth that is blocking the eruption of permanent teeth. Other times, the orthodontist may need to have teeth extracted to help make space. Whatever the reason, we will work to make sure that the appointment is as comfortable as can be for your child. With most kids, we will use laughing gas to help relax the child during treatment.

    Pulp/Nerve therapy

When decay is extensive it could reach the innermost layer of the tooth, the nerve. If this happens, we need to treat the nerve of the tooth. However, this procedure is a lot simpler and faster than it sounds. Once we remove the decay, we will complete a deep cleaning on the tooth. Most likely, after a tooth receives pulp therapy it will need a crown. With most kids, we will use laughing gas to help relax the child during treatment. ”

#6 – Emergency Dentistr post: Upload the following content:

When there is an emergency, we are here to help!

We understand that having a dental emergency can be stressful, especially when your child is involved. When your child has a dental emergency, we are here to help. We are trained to competently handle a wide range of dental emergencies. We reserve time in our schedules for same day emergency visits. Give our office a call at 419-401-7171 to see how we can help. After hours emergency calls will be directed to an emergency number.

Here are some common dental emergencies:

    Toothaches
    1. Cleanse the area around the tooth. If there is food stuck between the teeth, floss it out. Warm salt water rinses can help alleviate some of the tenderness around the gums
    2. Apply a soothing compress
    3. For pain, administer over the counter children’s ibuprofen or Tylenol
    4. Give our office a call at 419-401-7171 to schedule an appointment for an exam

Permanent Tooth has been “knocked out”

With permanent teeth that have been knocked out, time is of essence. The sooner we can appropriately treat the tooth the more likely we can save the tooth in the future. Give our office a call immediately at 419-401-7171

    1. Touch the tooth only by the crown [top portion]. Do not touch the root portion.
    2. Rinse the tooth carefully with water and try to place the tooth back into the socket. Hold the tooth in place by carefully biting on some gauze or a clean towel. Proceed to our office or the nearest emergency room for immediate treatment
    3. If you cannot place the tooth back into the socket, place it in milk and proceed to our office for immediate care or the nearest hospital

Baby Tooth has been knocked out

    1. Locate the tooth
    2. Apply gauze and pressure for about 10 minutes to stop or minimize bleeding
    3. Give our office a call at 419-401-7171.
    4. We do not replant baby teeth as it could cause permanent damage to the adult teeth. However, an exam is always recommended to evaluate the area and ensure the other teeth and surrounding bone are not damaged

    Object stuck between teeth

    1. Attempt to dislodge object with floss
    2. Never use anything sharp to try and get object out as it could cause more damage
    3. If you are unable to remove- give our office a call at 419-401-7171 and we will assist you

    Hello Dr. Aref,
Based off of our discussion I have compiled a design draft for your review. Please take a moment to review this concept and let me know of any changes you would like to see. Additionally, we want to focus on the layout and colors of the design, as the text and images can be changed at any given time.

We gave a few different variations for the pattern background section on the office portion. Please note, we can change out the background of this area at any time. If there are no major changes to the amount of sections or colors used, it would be good to move fowards and finalize this design.

    Website Examples from Dr. Aref
    Notes | 2017-12-20 | jessica.c | #111260 |

–Family dental office but you know right away they treat kids– “A dental experinece your child will love”
–Love the way it flows– using different sizes in texting to vary website

    -This is my favorite website
-Right when you look at it, you know its a children’s dental office
-I like how the top part follows you as your scroll down the site– so you always know the phone number, address and name of practice
    -It’s more visual than text
    -Photos are more child centered
-Whole site if filled with color

-I don’t like the colors but the same design here– The large logo, it is evident that it is a children’s office right away

    -I like the animation
    -More visual, than wordy

Hopefully these give you a better idea of what I am looking for
Let me know if you have any questions
    Thanks!

    Notes | 2017-12-12 | jessica.c | #109928 |

Emailed Dr. Aref that we will be sending out the design on the 17th:
    “Hi Dr. Aref,

It was a pleasure discussing the initial notes you had on your website design. We are still working on your design and it is coming along great. After reviewing your account, I do see that your first scheduled payment is planned for the 17th of this month. On the 17th, I will be able to deliver you your first website design concept, contrary to what I mentioned about the week turn around. I apologize for any confusion on our end regarding this but I have been informed by my supervisor that we do need the initial payment before providing a design.

In the meantime, I wanted to see if you had seen any recent websites you really liked? I can also do some research on my end and provide you with a few examples to reference or get some ideas. Additionally, we can utilize this time to also start thinking about the content you would like for your website such as pages, images, and navigation menu.

Please let me know if you have any questions,”

    Hello Dr. Sarah Aref,

    Welcome to Optimized360!

My name is Jessica and I will be the designer working with you every step of the way, starting from concept to going live! I had a quick meeting with your account consultant earlier to discuss your account and review the notes you initially had.

Please take a few minutes to fill out our design questionnaire below. This should give you a better idea of the variety of elements that are featured in an effective design.

    URL: https://form.jotform.us/61947943668171??Designer=jessica.c@optimized360.com&cpId=104100

After we gain a better sense of what you are looking for I can start the design process. If it is easier for you to explain this via phone we can schedule a phone interview instead.

I look forward to working on this design with you.

Dr. Aref, As mentioned, I am very familiar with our " competitors " in our industry. You only mentioned the price and I already knew who you may be referring to. Everyone says that they do "custom websites" but it means you are working off of a template. What I can tell you is that for $4,000... our company will create the site completely from scratch (Brand New Concept) and you have OWNERSHIP of the design & content. You basically OWN your investment from Day 1 and can take the site with you at ANY given time in the future. Other companies will tell you that you own the website but what they really mean is that you own the website DOMAIN name. Usually, if they provide a design within the gallery (template) or a custom design (where you work from the gallery), you DO NOT own the website because that same design is being reused resold to other practices. The company owns the website, not you. I truly and honestly feel that our quality work (from scratch with ownership), pricing (most competitive rate for quality features), and reputation (190+ Google Reviews) outweighs our competitors -- also that $800 difference, I really feel that you and your practice is worth that extra amount. I also wanted to inform you that our packages have changed recently and I will be able to honor your Gold Package pricing/features until the 17th of this month. Could we sit down and talk about your questions and clarifications? I really want to work with you and get you started on the right foot. Username: saraharef@gmail.com PW: 360_saraharef Click here to access & order Thank you,

    Hey Justin I am!
    2017-11-14 | justinn
Dr. Aref, When you said $3,200 for a website design, are you referring to TNT Dental? Thank you,
    2017-11-14 | justinn
Thanks Justin The difference wasn't in the 1000's -- it was 3200 vs the 4000$ you quoted me, but as you know, in a startup, every dollar matters. I will keep you updated. I appreciate you reaching out to me and want to thank you for your follow up.
    2017-11-13 | justinn
Dr. Aref, I understand it comes down to pricing but I would not want you to compromise the quality and conversion of the site due to pricing. You essentially get what you pay for. Say, for example, you spend $2k/$3k because it is a little cheaper than ours... keep in mind though, 95% of our competitors offer templates or a "custom design" where you work off of a template with generic content. This is not great for the optimization of your site as well as brand recognition. Also, why would you pay that much for something that requires little work on the company's end and everything is already pre-set? You are essentially going to lose TIME AND MONEY switching to another provider since you did not get the results that you are looking for. I assure you that our fees are VERY competitive and no other company comes close to what we provide. If they do, we will be able to match based on comparable features. We also have a great reputation for what we do here so compare our Google Reviews with the other company. We're trusted by other doctors like yourself. I am very confident based on our discussion.. you are worth that investment in our company. You will own your investment with us from Day 1. Other companies, you will spend thousands but will rent/lease their templates. You do not own the website at the end of the day when you cancel your service with them. Please keep in mind a few of these factors. There are more than just pricing. Thank you,
    2017-11-13 | justinn
Hi Justin I apologize for not responding sooner. I am still in the market-- I am exploring my options currently. I am debating between your company and another and honestly it just comes down to price. Once I finalize my decision I will let you know. Thank you for following up. It is much appreciated

Spoke with Dr- called her to let her know if she can process the order to lock in her rate - she said she will look it over one last time and will submit the order - wants to start on December 17th but lock in Gold Package (last day) today

Hey Justin I am!

Thank you,

Hi Justin I apologize for not responding sooner. I am still in the market-- I am exploring my options currently. I am debating between your company and another and honestly it just comes down to price. Once I finalize my decision I will let you know. Thank you for following up. It is much appreciated
