Losing weight can be frustrating, especially when past attempts at dieting have not worked. This can lead many patients to lose hope. We offer patients the opportunity to talk about their past experiences with weight loss. We then hope to uncover potential solutions to your weight loss challenges, making future efforts much more successful.
Counseling involves various sessions which is generally every 2 or 4 weeks. The frequency and duration, however, depend on your needs and personal circumstances.
What Should I Expect During Counseling?
Throughout the counseling process we try to know you as best as we can. We review your medical history, previous diets, and aspects of your environment that might be relevant to your weight loss program. Although we are not psychologists, we do explore whether certain anxieties may play a factor. Above all, the process is not judgmental and designed entirely toward achieving successful weight loss.
What Should I Expect After The Weight Loss Counseling?
After several weight loss counseling sessions, patients generally have a much better understanding about what they need to do be successful with weight loss. A certain confidence is gained, allowing patients to understand their potential pitfalls and how to avoid them in the future.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I hope that I can help you achieve better health. To begin with, my practice is a little bit different from others. Since weight management can be complicated and every patient is different, I believe that every person requires a unique approach. I like to explore all avenues that could help you achieve your goals, including diet adjustments, physical activity programs, lifestyle changes, and even medical therapy, if needed. I also try to address conditions that are closely related to weight, such as High Blood Pressure, Prediabetes, Insulin Resistance, and other Metabolic conditions. I also treat patients who may not be considered to be overweight, but have developed some of the problems typically related to being overweight, such as Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Sleep Disorders, Prediabetes, High Cholesterol, and the Metabolic Syndrome. More than anything, my goal is to use the safest methods available to make you an overall healthier and more functional person.

About Robert Sadaty, MD (change this to About Dr. Sadaty):
Thank you for visiting my website and considering me as one of your doctors. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I received my medical degree from Cornell University in 1996. I then went on to complete a medical internship and residency at Case Western Reserve University in 1999. Since then, I have practiced as a general internal medicine physician in the Bonita Springs and Naples area. As a general practitioner, I have always enjoyed seeing patients with a variety of conditions and have extended my interests to many areas. I have become experienced in various areas, including wound care, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and peri-operative medicine. In the latter part of my career, my interests have been mainly in the area of weight loss and metabolic conditions. Consistent with my views on patient care, I have enjoyed the relationship that weight management has on my patients’ overall health. As I have done over the course of my career, I like to assess the impact that weight has on all organ systems, such as the heart, the mind, and everything else. When I am not seeing patients I like to spend time with my family. My other hobbies include reading, exercise, and the outdoors.

Blood Pressure Management
Blood Pressure problems tend to occur in patients who are overweight. Almost always, weight loss will improve blood pressure. Since the newest guidelines call for blood pressure to be lower than 130/80, additional measures are often needed to reach these new targets. Fortunately, there are several non-drug methods to lower blood pressure which we like to use to their fullest extent. When needed, medications are prescribed to complements all other non-pharmacologic means. Since some blood pressure medications can actually cause patients to gain more weight, we like to use those medications that do not adversely impact weight. We often perform EKGs and other non-invasive tests to ensure that a patient’s blood pressure has not impacted the heart or other vital organs. We welcome patients to the practice who do not necessarily need or seek weight loss, but would like to have their blood pressure evaluated and treated.
Blood Glucose, PreDiabetes, and Diabetes Management:
Like Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar control problems often go hand in hand with being overweigh. In addition, identifying patients with blood sugar control problems often give clues to the types of diets and lifestyle changes that are needed in order to achieve a person’s weight loss goals. We screen for these problems and address them, together with your weight loss issues. Some people do not necessarily have a weight problem per se, but have developed early signs of Diabetes or Blood Sugar control issues. We welcome patients to the practice who would like to be screened, tested, and treated for problems related to blood sugar control.
Hormone Evaluation:
In terms of weight management, many male patients are curious about their Testosterone levels and if replacing low levels could help. We evaluate our patients to see if they have low Testosterone levels and offer replacement when indicated. Not all patients with low levels would necessarily benefit from Testosterone replacement, so a careful evaluation, weighing all risks and benefits is an essential part of the process. We also check women for hormone imbalances when appropriate. With our women patients, the risks and benefits of hormone replacements are also evaluated, as concerns with potentiation of breast and other gynecologic malignancies need to be considered.
Injection Therapy:
Although we do not administer HCG injections, we are open to discuss these ideas with you and how we might be able to suggest alternatives. For those patients with B Vitamin Deficiencies we do administer B12 shots. When indicated, and when standard criteria are satisfied, we prescribe Testosterone replacement by injection, patch, creams, etc.
