Myrna Joanne Turner Pilot Bushnell of Red Rock, aged 78, passed away peacefully at home November 24, 2016. She was born in Mojave, California on September 8,1938 to parents Robert and Roberta Turner.
Her greatest pleasure was operating her General Store in Red Rock. She couldn’t wait to open up in the morning just to catch those early risers and coffee drinkers, just to sit and visit, that is what she lived for. She so enjoyed the people of the community and grew to think of them as family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and spouse, Donald R. Bushnell, sister; Barbara Buckner, stepdaughters; Anne Miller and Gail Kendrick.

She is survived by brother; Bob Turner and wife Jody, sons; John Pilot, Jay Pilot and wife Tammy, daughters; Tracy Hill, Tami Ramsey and husband Les, stepson; Steven Bushnell, stepdaughters; Donna Goff and husband Walter, Pauline Sue Bushnell, 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside service, conducted by John Gillum, will be held Saturday, December 3rd at 11am.

The family would like to thank the people of Red Rock and surrounding communities for their support over the years. In Myrna’s own words, “This too, shall pass”.”

David Anthony Burger, 49, of Bastrop, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on October 18th of ALS Disease. He was born December 21, 1966 in Dayton Ohio.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Burger, Sister Susan Bull, nephews Andrew and Dominic and niece Jessica all of Cleveland, Ohio.

David was a graduate of Strongsville High School in Strongsville, Ohio and earned a bachelors degree in Media, Art and Music from the University of Indiana, Bloomington.

During his past 27 years he worked for Arts Marketing in Toronto, Canada, Opera Colorado in Denver, Arvada Center in Denver and then came to Austin to work in the Arts raising funds for the Arts. At that time he started his own business, Syzygy Marketing again raising funds for the Arts. He opened David Anthony Studio in his home teaching and encouraging his passion of music. He would joined the Smithville United Methodist Church as a piano accompanist and recently became a member of the congregation.

David will be dearly missed by his family and friends from all over the country.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday October 29th at 11:00 am at the Smithville United Methodist Church, Smithville, TX. Church #512-237-3325.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Conspirare or a charity of your choice.

Joyce H. Thorne Williams-Spikes was born in Bastrop, Texas on August 27, 1934 and was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 9, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her parents, James Howard Thorne and Rosie Lenora Thorne and sister, Eva Delores Thorne-Samples, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Ernest Spikes, Jr., (Las Vegas, NV); her daughter, Sharon Kaye Hurd (Grand Prairie, TX); three granddaughters, Porsche Hurd (Dallas, TX), Lauren Hurd (Ft. Worth, TX), Benita Hurd Cheatham, MD (Philadelphia, PA); a great granddaughter, Madison Kaye Chambers (Dallas, TX); an uncle, Reverend Lawrence (Mack) Thorne (Cedar Creek, TX); three aunts, Bobbry McDonald, Hazel Harris (both of Cedar Creek, TX), and Lela Thorne (Bastrop, TX) and a host of other relatives, friends and associates.

Joyce graduated from Emile High School and Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, TX where she received a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. She was the epitome of an educator who propelled many students and friends to successful lives. Working with children was her passion. During her thirty plus (30+) years as a teacher, she taught school in Cedar Creek, TX, Arizona (Indian Reservation), Midland, TX, San Jose, CA, Tampa, FL, and San Antonio, TX. Several years she was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award. After retiring, she worked as a home-bound teacher for sick and physically challenged students at all grade levels. She was a reader for students in some Las Vegas, Nevada schools. She was a member of the Teacher Education Association and many local, national, and international organizations and charity programs. She was a faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church and its choir and was a deaconess.

The funeral service will be held at Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church, 507 Toliver St., Bastrop, Texas on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 1:00pm. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery, Cedar Creek, Texas (approximately 12 miles or 15 minutes) followed by a repast/meal at Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church Scholarship Program (507 Toliver St., Bastrop, TX 78602) would be greatly appreciated.”

Mr Gibson called in. Very difficult to understand (heavy accent). Looking to do advertisement for his funeral home. Recommended Adwords. Quoted him $500/m to cover about 20-30 miles. It is in the country area with very low population. Was asking about facebook as well, told him its about an addition $100-200/m. He would want to test out the Adword first and then add fb if needed. Saw his site and had recommended to do a makeover to help wiht the conversion. Had offered him a free one if he commits to 2 months of adwords. Will send him link to our funeral designs.
