spoke to Dr, very nice. basically reiterated what she liked to accomplish out of this site. Gave her all the assurance that our company is the right fit through our undersatnding on healthcare, doctors & patients. she is paying out of her pocket and asked for discount cause hospital won't pay for it. Thank you for taking the time to share information regarding a website for me and my practice. The long and short of it is I am a colon and rectal surgeon in San Antonio that is one of the busier people in town. My goal of this is to provide patients information about me specifically as well as many of the common conditions I treat. Some of the information would be links from the American College of Colon and Rectal Surgery; other things would be descriptions with my own words. I want something very straightforward- nothing complicated, no slow-loading graphics, or much that would be overwhelming for basic browsers.
Unfortunately, since I am employed by the University system, my employer will not pay for any "marketing" for me, and I am salaried, so how much revenue I bring in is not reflected in my paycheck. Long-term, I am working on being the go-to person in South Texas for what I do, and I feel that having a site that represents me positively is important.
I have had a bad experience in the past with a site I managed in which patients could leave comments- basically had someone I never operated on that was fixated on me would post very negative things on the public board. Therefore, I am not interested in having anything where people could post publically/ review/ etc on the site- I just want the basics of how they can get in touch with me if they are interested in an evaluation.
One site I like is that of a friend of mine who is a dermatologist in town. I would foresee mine being something similar, with a personal description, diseases I treat, procedures I offer, and how to contact my office. Her website is www.drvivianbucay.com. I wanted to give you the background of all of this so I can see options that would be best for my needs. I am happy to talk with you on the phone at some point if that would be easier.

I do have one question for you- Alicia is affiliated with a University and as such doesn't have the same financial incentive or flexibility/need in marketing as a private practice would have. The big impetus for Alicia would be to explain the benefits of laparoscopic colon resections (among other procedures) and for her patients to have a resource for more information. Do any of your clients fit a similar situation as Alicia, and if so could you send a link?
